Job Responsibility Sales Tax and Service Tax (SST) Return ( SST-02/SST-02A ) To advise the Group of companies on the approach to be taken for the review of SST-02/SST-02A. To monitor the progress of the review of SST-02/SST-2A to ensure IT can be completed in time. To review the SST return together with the documents and information provided to ensure the correctness, accuracy and completeness of the SST-02/SST-02A. GST/SST Advisory Attend meetings with Business Unit ( BU ) to understand on various GST/SST issues. Assess GST/SST implications on the issues and potential issues that may arise. To prepare advisory and provision of helpdesk to address the GST/SST issues based on Legislations. To advise on GST/SST implications on the proposed business model and identify GST/SST issues of potential corporate/financing structures. To assist in general tax exposure in merger, acquisition and group restructuring exercise. To prepare and review due diligence reports. To assist BU in applying for customs confirmation, customs ruling, clarification letter, list of sales tax/ service tax and GST issues to be clarified with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department ( RMCD ) and/or Ministry of Finance ( MoF ). To assist and support BU in liaising with RMCD and/or MoF towards favorable outcome of GST/SST application. GST Closure Audit/SST Audit To advise on the approach to be taken in relation to GST/SST audit related matters. To review the responses and answers prepared by the Group of companies together with the information and documents in connection to the GST/SST audit. To meet with BU (if require) to address GST/SST issues and to ensure the information and documents are complied with GST/SST Legislations. To submit the relevant information and documents to the RMCD in a timely manner. To attend round table discussion with the respective Group of companies and RMCD in the audit finding. To advice the Group of companies on the next course of action to be taken if the result of the audit is not favourable. To assist the Group of companies to prepare appeal letter to RMCD/MoF for the purpose to minimise tax liability. GST/SST Refund To advise on the approach to be taken in relation to GST/SST refund audit. To review the responses and documents prepared by the Group of companies to ensure correctness and completeness in accordance to the Legislations. To ensure the documents provided is relevant and sufficient for RMCD to process the GST/SST refund. To submit the documents and information to RMCD in a timely manner. To ensure GST/SST refund to be received in a reasonable time. To advice next course of action to be taken if the GST/SST refund is rejected/reduced by RMCD. To assist the Group of companies prepare appeal letter to RMCD/MoF (if require) for the purpose to obtain the GST/SST refund. SST Health Check Discuss on the strategy and review process to be adopted for SST health check. Request for the information and documents from BU to perform the SST health check. Review of the information and documentation, contracts, agreement, invoices, sales tax exemption documents, SST-02 / SST-02A etc. provided by the companies based on the information request list for sales tax and service tax to ensure completeness, compliance and correct. To request additional information and documents in relation to the SST health check (if any). To prepare SST draft finding reports and discuss with BU on the potential exposure/liability based on SST treatment adopted by the companies. Risks or shortcomings in the SST compliance and reporting practices. Potential remedial options and actions available. Application for confirmation/ruling to RMCD and MoF (if any). Others Perform other duties as required to support the Group of companies on tax matters. To provide SST ad-hoc assignment as and when required. Job Requirements Must possess professional qualifications (MIT, MIA, MICPA, ACCA or equivalent) and/or Degree/Master in Accounting/Taxation or equivalent Membership in CTIM would be an added advantage. Must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience in indirect tax. Good understanding of indirect tax rules, regulations and practices. Experience or knowledge in indirect tax is a strong advantage. Must possess excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Well-coordinated, takes initiative an able to work under minimum supervision.
