
Payroll Accountant - Malaysia

- Responsible for end-to-end payroll cycle for international companies within the Group, as assigned
- Depending on location, process payroll in-house or work with external payroll providers and HR to deliver accurate monthly and/or semi-monthly, multi-state payrolls
- Administer payroll taxes, superannuation, pensions, workers compensation reporting and employee benefits/reconciliations
- Prepare and submit year-end payroll reporting and statutory flings in compliance with local regulations
- Maintain and manage leave systems
- Payroll on-boarding & off-boarding of employees
- Prepare and post all payroll-related journal entries in the accounting system
- Perform and review payroll-related balance sheet accounts, accruals and reconciliations ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Work with Finance & Accounting team on payroll related analysis to support budgeting and reporting
- Liaise with HR team regarding new hires, terminations, leave, remuneration and conditions of service including interpreting awards/agreements in relation to tax, allowances and other pay and benefit components
- Deliver payroll-related projects and process improvements as required
- Manage and respond to audit queries
- Resolve employee payroll escalations and queries efficiently, maintaining confidentiality and timeliness
- Monitor changes in payroll legislation and update processes to maintain compliance
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of payroll processing and accounting experience, with deep expertise in Malaysia payroll systems, statutory contributions, able to independently handle all related queries
- Experience with multi-jurisdiction or APAC payrolls highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of current payroll and payroll tax legislation, with ability to adapt to regulatory changes
