This role supports the legal and compliance function by managing regulatory, governance, and contractual matters across multi-jurisdictional operations. It involves drafting legal documents, overseeing compliance processes, and providing advisory support to ensure legal robustness and regulatory adherence.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and client requirements.
  • Provide legal and contractual support to internal teams, advising on risk, enforceability, and regulatory matters.
  • Coordinate with external counsel on advisory work, document reviews, and dispute resolution.
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory bodies (SC, BNM, Labuan IBFC), including filings, renewals, and regulatory updates.
  • Support development and implementation of internal policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks (AML, data privacy, conflict of interest).
  • Assist with client onboarding, KYC/CDD processes, and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to governance and succession planning advisory for Family Office clients.
  • Deliver training and promote legal and regulatory awareness across the organization.
  • Support departmental operations, recruitment, and reporting as required.
Contribute to impactful legal and compliance initiatives with regional reach.Develop your career in a fast-paced, internationally connected environment.A successful Assistant Manager, Legal & Compliance should have:· Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; admission to the Malaysian Bar is an advantage.· Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory functions-preferably in financial services, trust services.· Sound understanding of Malaysian legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g. SC, BNM, Labuan IBFC), with exposure to international compliance practices.· Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex documents and risk assessments.· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.· High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential information.· Ability to work independently while being a proactive team player.Our client is a reputable, Asia-focused financial services group providing bespoke wealth management, succession planning, and multi-jurisdictional advisory solutions.
