Familiarity with Malaysian OSH and environmental regulations (e.g. OSHA 1994, Environmental Quality Act 1974). Certification in OSH (e.g. OSH Coordinator/ Safety and Health Officer [SHO]/ certification by NIOSH Malaysia is an added advantage. Monitor and manage chemical safety, scheduled wastes disposal and ensure environmental compliance in accordance with institutional policy and Malaysian laws. (e.g., OSHA 1994, EQA 1974). Support the implementation of campus-wide OSH and environmental sustainability programmes, including energy conservation, waste segregation and pollution prevention. Assist in conducting risk assessments for teaching and research activities involving hazardous chemicals, biological agents, machinery and environmental exposures. Maintain accurate records and databases related to safety audits, chemical inventories, PPE usage, environmental monitoring and incident reports. Collaborate with lab technicians, academic staff and facilities management to ensure compliance with relevant HSE and environmental standards. Assist in investigations and documentation of workplace, laboratory and environmental incidents and provide recommendations for corrective actions. Participate in safety and environmental awareness campaigns, training sessions and emergency response drills to strengthen campus safety culture.
