POSITION OVERVIEW The Legal Manager will reports to the Head, Legal & Secretarial is responsible for giving strategic legal advice, ensuring compliance with laws, managing legal risks, and serves as a liaison between internal teams and external legal counsel. The role includes managing contracts, handling litigation, and ensuring that the company follows all relevant laws and regulations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Legal Advisory - Offer legal counsel on contracts, corporate governance, compliance, and employment matters. - To provide advice in relation to laws and regulations affecting the organisation. - To prepare, review, negotiate and finalise all legal documentation. 2. Compliance Management - Monitor legislative changes impacting the organisation. - Implement compliance programs and training for employees. 3. Risk Management - Identify and mitigate potential legal risks. - Conduct legal audits and assessments for compliance. 4. Litigation Support - Oversee litigation matters and collaborate with external counsel. - Liaise with various regulatory authorities, external counsels and shareholders. - Develop strategies for evidence gathering and discovery. 5. Stakeholder Collaboration - Serve as the main contact for internal stakeholders on legal issues. - Work with departments to integrate legal insights into decision-making. 6. Policy Development - Draft and communicate organizational policies in line with legal requirements. 7. Training and Development - Conduct legal training for sta on relevant topics. - Keep updated on industry trends in legal management. 8. Reporting - Prepare reports on legal matters, compliance, and risks for management. - Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education - Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from accredited law school. - Candidates who have been called to the Malaysian Bar would be an added advantage. 2. Experience - At least 5-7 years of legal experience, familiarity with a wide range of laws and regulations. 3. Skills - Proficiency in English and Bahasa Melayu. - Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail. - Strong organisational, communication, and negotiating abilities, as well as the ability to e iciently handle many priorities. 4. Attributes - Capable of working independently and within tight deadlines. - Able to work under pressure and enjoy working in a dynamic environment. Show more Show less
