Job Location: Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur Summary of Job Responsibilities: Commercial Accountant is required to work closely with the Finance, Traders and Shipping Ops to support on daily trade transactions and monitor trade position exposures reported by Risk. This role will take ownership of monitoring and managing commodity transactions and act as a primary interface with risk teams in market price, MTM PnL export duty and levy and positions. You should stay on top of the changes in the global environment, new products launching and open with new markets/destinations. Job Responsibilities: Accountable for accuracy of MTM reported which not limited to physical, paper, future and inventory positions. To calculate and analyze monthly MTM to measure the fair value changes of commodity products to mitigate the market risk exposures and volatility of export duty. Responsible to track long outstanding contracts and staggered shipments to mitigate trade exposures. To perform monthly MTM reconciliation between risk and finance to establish reliable PnL reported by market risk team. Ensure all management reports fulfilled with quality deliverables. Monitor the trading cost performance (selling expenses, demurrages and etc) and product margin to optimize product contributions, identify any exceptional which not compliance with credit and trade policy to immediate superior. Acting as liaison between finance stakeholders, shipping and traders, always stay on top of what is happening to day-to-day shipments. Analyzing and communicating stakeholder needs by translating the business requirements into finance requirements without compromising financial controls, rules and regulations compliance. Areas of Core Responsibilities: - (30%) Driving Trade Middle and Back Office PPSST (People, Process, Structure, System and Technology) Analyzing and communicating stakeholder needs by translating the business requirements into finance requirements without compromising financial controls, rules and regulations compliance. To evaluate and improve existing PPSST to optimize middle and back office efficiencies and financial objectives covering finance operation (Future, paper, trade settlement), MTM reporting, compliance to finance policy, commodity system etc. Work with Risk and commercial team to align principle of commercial PL and MTM. Actively participate in ATS commodity project and automate MTM reporting to improve work efficiency and strengthen internal controls. (50%) Trading Financial Reporting and Cost Control Ensure all commitment corporate and management reporting are fulfilled with quality deliverables eg cost analysis, product margin, trading margin, forex exposures, staggered shipments, export duty and levy financial etc Establish appropriate trading PL system to report and capture the business performance by profit centers, as well as digitalize the MTM computation to improve data accuracy and efficiency. Responsible for month end MTM reporting and reconciliations to ensure MTM positions and PnL are recorded fairly and timely. Identify, analyze and monitor the day-to-day MTM positions and trade exposures, and report if trade volume and exposures exceeded the approved limit. (20%) Perform Periodic Operational Review Assist any ad hoc projects assigned by SFC. Annual budget preparation and reporting Job Requirements Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or relevant field. At least 2- 3 years of working experience in trading commodity analyst is added advantage Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work in a fast-paced, matrix and multi-cultural environment Highly analytical mindset. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, familiarity with data query/data management tools (Access, SQL and Business Objects) Commitment to deadlines.
