The HR Manager, Optical Retail Malaysia is responsible for leading the full spectrum of HR across the retail business-covering the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from talent attraction, talent development, employee relations, compliance, and daily HR operations. This role is both strategic and operational, directly contributing to business growth, workforce effectiveness, and retail excellence. The HR Manager will manage the 3 banners under A-Look , oversees a network of 90 stores across Malaysia, comprising approximately 400 employees. Acting as a key business partner, the HR Manager collaborates closely with functional leader and retail leadership, store teams, and the broader HR function to align people strategies with commercial objectives. The role plays a critical part in building a high-performance culture, driving engagement, and supporting organizational growth in fast-paced retail across the Malaysia Optical retail network. Main Responsibilities: HR Business Partnering & Strategic Support Act as a trusted advisor to functional and retail leaders by providing strategic HR guidance aligned with overall business objectives. Lead the HR agenda for organizational design, business transformation, including post-acquisition integration and cultural alignment. Translate business needs into effective HR strategies that drive employee performance, engagement, and retention. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Lead end-to-end recruitment for both frontline and retail office roles, ensuring quality hires and a seamless candidate experience. Partner with hiring managers to forecast manpower needs and build robust talent pipelines. Build and maintain talent pipelines to meet current and future manpower needs across multiple locations. Employee Relations & Engagement Work closely with regional team and implement the group's employee engagement strategies locally, driving initiatives that foster employee engagement, motivation, and a positive work environment across all teams. Manage employee relations cases and provide coaching to store leaders on HR matters. Ensure fairness and compliance in grievance, disciplinary, and performance-related issues. Implement engagement and recognition programs that strengthen morale and performance. Talent Management & Culture Deliver talent development initiatives to build skills, enhance performance, and support career growth. Facilitate performance management processes including goal setting, feedback, and development planning. Drive performance management, development planning, and succession processes to build internal capabilities. Implement learning initiatives to uplift leadership, service, and retail competencies. Promote a high-performance, values-driven culture aligned with customer excellence and operational success. HR Operations & Compliance Manage day-to-day HR processes including onboarding, offboarding, data accuracy, payroll coordination, and employee records management. Ensure compliance with local employment laws, regulations, and statutory requirements (EPF, SOCCO, etc) Maintain consistent application of HR policies and procedures, supporting audit readiness and operational efficiency. HR Analytics & Business Reporting Track and report key HR metrics (e.g., headcount, turnover, productivity, cost-to-hire). Provide data-driven insights to inform business decisions and continuous improvement. Contribute to HR budgeting, workforce planning, and organizational benchmarking. Main Requirements: Bachelor&aposs degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 8 years of HR experience with strong business partnering exposure. Retail or multi-site experience is highly preferred. Solid understanding of Malaysian employment laws , HR policies, and statutory compliance. Strong business acumen and exceptional analytical to drive HR with commercial outcomes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust. Hands-on, resourceful, and experienced in managing both strategic HR initiatives and daily HR operations . Proficient in HR systems and comfortable working with digital HR tools and data.
