Job Title: Legal Counsel (In-House) Location: Kuala Lumpur Employment Type: Full-time Experience Level: 2-5 years PQE Overview: We are seeking a driven Legal Counsel (In-House) to join our team, providing practical legal support across corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters, with a focus on the renewable energy sector (solar, hydro, biogas, etc.). The company is committed to supporting and grooming you into a future leader, with opportunities to grow into Head of Legal. Key Responsibilities: Provide timely and accurate legal advice on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts and agreements related to renewable energy projects, including: - Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) - Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts - Operations and Maintenance (O&M) agreements - Land lease agreements - Supply and equipment contracts Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements in the energy sector. Draft legal correspondence and letters to clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and business partners. Support dispute resolution, claims management, and litigation strategies in collaboration with external legal counsel as needed. Monitor and stay up to date with new regulatory announcements, legal developments, and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance and advise the company proactively. Maintain legal governance, risk management, and internal controls. Communicate legal advice clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) recognized by Malaysian authorities. Qualified to practice in Malaysia (or Commonwealth equivalent), with 2-5 years PQE. Experience in corporate and commercial law, including contract negotiation. Knowledge of the energy sector is a strong plus. Excellent command of English; Bahasa Malaysia required; Mandarin is a bonus. Able to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
