We identify database problems, provide solutions and also build automation platforms to automate repeatable operation work in the most efficient and optimized way. Our team is passionate about the details and work very closely with a wide range of stakeholders. Our passion is anchored in the work that we do, and this is reflected in the impact we make in SEA on a daily life basis.Get to know the role:We are looking for talented and passionate Database Engineers to join our team. You will have opportunities to work on different database technologies with a large scale. It's very important that our team members take initiatives to identify problems, and have the right mindset and problem solving skills.The day-to-day activities:You will be responsible for monitoring day to day MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and or other OLTP database systems in terms of operations and managementPerform database capacity planning and maintenance, monitoring and performance tuningDiagnose any database issues and employ measures to prevent recurrenceWork with engineering and operations team in building tooling to drive scalability, reliability and performanceResearch and develop new technologies and approaches for building highly available data persistence systemsAdvice and support product, engineering, support and operation teamsParticipate in on-call rotationsQualificationsThe must haves:Preferably a degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related fieldsBasic understanding and real passion for relational database theory and database fundamentalsBasic understanding of at least one of MySQL/PostgreSQL/MariaDB internalsProficiency with Linux system administrationCS fundamentals (with competencies in algorithms and data structures)The good to haves:Experience benchmarking, clustering and tuning the databases for performance, reliability, high availability and scalabilityExperience with AWS RDS / Elasticache / other AWS Database Services or experience with management of databases in AWS environment will a strong plusAdditional InformationOur CommitmentWe recognize that with these individual attributes come different workplace challenges, and we will work with Grabbers to address them in our journey towards creating inclusion at Grab for all Grabbers.
