We are currently working with a leading telco infrastructure company to develop and launch a new retail-focused venture in Malaysia . This initiative aims to create innovative, commercially sustainable retail partnerships that leverage both digital and physical infrastructure. Role and Responsibilities Advise on the structure, norms, and commercial models of retail partnerships in Malaysia, including pricing structures, margin expectations, and contractual norms. Introduce and connect the company to senior decision-makers within relevant retail chains, distributors, and buying groups in Malaysia. Provide insights into the competitive landscape, market trends, and regulatory considerations impacting retail operations in-country. Support commercial negotiations by advising on local practices, leverage points, and risk mitigation strategies. Recommend local partners, service providers, and other resources to support market entry and scaling. Potentially join initial client/partner meetings to provide credibility and local context. Comfortable working in an advisory or part-time capacity with clear deliverables. Qualifications and Education Requirements 10+ years of experience in Malaysian retail, preferably in commercial, category management, or business development roles. Strong personal network across major retail groups, department stores, supermarkets, convenience store chains, retail F&B, and/or specialty retail. Deep understanding of Malaysian retail commercial terms, vendor agreements, and procurement processes. Proven track record of facilitating partnerships and closing commercial deals in Malaysia. Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred but not required. Preferred Skills Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills. Strong negotiation and communication capabilities. Ability to translate market insights into actionable recommendations. Well-versed in current retail market trends, consumer behaviour, and category performance in Malaysia. Show more Show less
