We pledge to make Prudential a place where you can Connect, Grow, and Succeed.Responsible to manage an efficient and effective new business and underwriting team to support the company’s business by assessing risks and approving or declining in accordance to underwriting guidelines within the granted authority.Roles & Responsibilities:Manage team to review medical, occupational, financial and legal information to analyse the risk involved in takaful applications. Review and define underwriting guidelines as well as ensure competitiveness of Underwriting rules relative to marketplace whilst ensuring underwriting profitability. Assess risks associated with takaful policies and make informed decisions. Ensuring that underwriting assessments align with Retakaful/Reinsurer requirements for the underwriting process.Monitor and review work systems and processes for the effective and efficient operations of the department – focus on efficiency, automation and process improvements. Maintain / increase straight through processing success rates in line with organizations objectives and targets.Develop and deliver training plan for underwriting team to ensure a culture of continuous learning is shared amongst the team. Support the development and / or enhancement of products / services. Review of all forms in relation to new business. Provide continuous guidance to the underwriting team, ensuring consistent implementation of policies and procedures along with related changes.Ensures section complies with all regulatory and compliance requirements as required by local laws and regulations as well as company / group guidelines. Will have ownership of all SOPs and its continuous review and updating.Deliver upon key projects agreed and / or initiated toward improvement of business delivery. Ability to review and enhances processes to support better customer experience and cost management.Management of New Business Administration function of data entry, certificate printing, new business administration, reunderwriting of claims and endorsements where required.Collaboration and working closely with other departments, including Retakaful partners, to ensure smooth operations and compliance.Qualification and Experience:A degree in Biomedical Science/Biology/Health Science or any field related to human biology or public health.At least 12 years relevant underwriting experience with reasonable exposure to medical knowledgeAbility to work independently, flexible and agile in ways of working.Attention to detail and Problem-solving aptitude with strong organizational abilities.A team player with good communication skills, key in managing internal and external stakeholders.Prudential is an equal opportunity employer.
