Job Purpose: To oversee and manage the procurement of all materials and services required for plant operations, including raw materials, packaging, machinery, spare parts, consumables, and indirect items. The Purchasing Manager will ensure timely, cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient vendor management to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Procurement of Raw & Packaging Materials Manage sourcing and procurement of MSG, spices, flavor enhancers, additives, and other raw materials. Handle all types of packaging materials. Monitor market trends to optimize cost and ensure uninterrupted availability. 2. Machinery & Engineering Purchases Manage procurement of production machinery, utilities (boilers, compressors), and auxiliary equipment. Source and order spare parts, maintenance tools, and MRO (maintenance, repair & operations) items. Coordinate with maintenance departments to understand technical specifications and timelines. 3. Vendor Development & Management Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers for materials, machinery, and services. Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, and credit terms with vendors. Maintain a strong vendor base and build long-term partnerships. 4. Purchase Order & Inventory Management Generate and track purchase orders in Auto Count system. Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid stockouts or overstocking. Coordinate closely with the store, production, maintenance, and planning teams. 5. Compliance, Quality & Documentation Ensure that all materials and machines meet quality standards and regulatory norms (FSSC, ISO, etc.). Maintain complete records of purchases, contracts, and vendor performance audits. Follow ethical sourcing practices and company procurement policies. 6. Cross-Functional Collaboration Liaise with R&D, Maintenance, QA/QC, Packing, Warehouse and Production for timely procurement support. Coordinate with finance/accounts for vendor payments, advance requests, and reconciliation. Key Skills & Competencies : Strong knowledge of food-grade raw materials and processing equipment. Experience in capital equipment procurement and technical negotiation. Sound understanding of supply chain, vendor evaluation, and contract management.
