Oracle Database Administrator Location: Kuala Lumpur Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time Salary: Up to RM7,500 About the Role We are seeking a skilled Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, maintain, and enhance mission-critical database systems across the Asia Pacific region. This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse database technologies - primarily Oracle - alongside IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, in both on-premise and cloud environments. You will ensure optimal database performance, availability, security, and scalability while collaborating with regional and global teams to support complex, high-volume systems. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain robust database structures to support business applications and ensure data integrity. Install, configure, and manage DBMS platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Monitor and fine-tune database performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks. Implement strong database security measures in line with compliance and regulatory requirements. Develop, test, and execute reliable backup and recovery strategies. Troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues across multiple environments. Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations and operational procedures. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and IT teams for optimised performance and service delivery. Deploy, manage, and secure cloud-based database infrastructure. Automate repetitive processes to improve efficiency. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. 3 to 6 years of proven experience as a DBA with strong Oracle expertise; knowledge of other database technologies is a plus. Solid proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, and database optimisation. Hands-on experience with database backup/recovery and cloud platforms. Proficiency in automation scripting (e.g., shell, Python, PowerShell). Familiarity with monitoring tools for database health and performance. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Relevant certifications (Oracle Certified Professional, Azure Database Administrator) are advantageous. Willingness to be on-call and work outside regular hours when required.
