Senior Instrument Designer / Instrument Designer - Oil & Gas Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Contract Type: 1-year fixed term, renewable based on performance and project requirements We are seeking a skilled Senior Instrument Designer / Instrument Designer to join a project team delivering instrumentation and control system design for oil and gas projects. This role includes both office-based design work and potential site visits. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Lead Designer/Engineer in producing high-quality design outputs following project procedures. Ensure correct staffing levels and capability of the drafting team. Deliver instrumentation and telecom design outputs in a cost-effective and timely manner. Prepare specifications, technical bid evaluations, and clarifications for bulk materials. Review drawings produced by designers/drafters to ensure compliance with design requirements and good engineering practices. Maintain records of design deliverables, sketches, drafts, reviews, and revisions for traceability and audits. Assist in proposal preparation and cost estimation for bulk materials. Support and mentor designers and draftsmen, maintaining quality, discipline, and team morale. Be available for assignment as Lead Designer and for site visits if required. Carry out onshore and offshore site surveys, prepare checklists, and reports as required. Required Qualifications and Experience: Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Minimum 7 years of instrumentation and control engineering design experience, with at least 4 years in oil and gas projects. Knowledge of offshore platforms and onshore instrumentation and control systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and initiative skills. Good interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. Desirable Skills: Experience in 3D modelling or SPI wiring. 2+ years of experience in fabrication yard or construction site related to instrumentation and control.
