Job Summary: The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all cost-related aspects of fit-out and construction projects for new and existing supermarket branches. The role requires strong coordination skills with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within budget, timeframe, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for new supermarket branches, renovations, and maintenance projects. Evaluate and verify Bill of Quantities (BQ) and tender documents for construction and renovation works. Source, evaluate, and negotiate with contractors and suppliers, especially in Chinese-speaking environments for ease of coordination. Handle contract administration, including contract award, variation orders, extension of time, and final accounts. Monitor project expenditure and conduct cost control to ensure budget adherence. Conduct site valuations and progress claims; verify contractors' claims and invoices. Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flows, and project forecasts. Collaborate with project and design teams to ensure cost-effective solutions and value engineering. Assist in preparing submission drawings, construction drawings, and liaise with authorities or landlords if needed. Support in procurement and material take-off from drawings. Monitor on-site progress and attend project/site meetings when required. Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, or equivalent. At least 3-5 years of experience in retail, interior fit-out, or commercial projects, preferably in supermarkets or shopping malls. Familiar with tendering procedures, contract management, and cost control. Strong negotiation and coordination skills. Ability to speak Mandarin/Chinese dialects is an added advantage due to coordination with Chinese contractors. Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and QS software. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Willing to travel to project sites as required. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of retail operations or supermarket layout planning.
