In this role, you will monitor all quality activities on a project and ensure compliance with the Quality Implementation Plan (QIP), and oversee the field inspection scope during the project phases. You will participate in design phase activities and document reviews. You should understand design documents and perform pre-cons, first work in place, and periodic inspections to ensure compliance with the design documents, submittals, manufacturer's requirements, and best practices. Strong technical knowledge of facility, mechanical, and electrical construction. Promotes the use of materials, finishes, and details with excellent long-term quality performance . Job Responsibilities : 1. Initiates QIP on every assigned proje ct 2. During the design pha se: Conducts design quality kick-off meeting Ensures that design reviews are completed and signed off at 30 and 100% Begins listing quality risks and developing mitigation plans Personally review final documents on all assigned projects Ensures that geotechnical, concrete, and envelope reviews are held on all assigned projects. Performs geotechnical report review. Advises Project Director, Project Manager, and A/E Design Principals on critical related information . 3. During the construction phase: Conducts construction quality kick-off meeting Participation in the selection and evaluation of independent testing laboratories. Develops budgets, administers contracts, as well as monitors scheduled activities, such as reports, field activities, tests, and inspections on all agencies contracted. Distribute test results to appropriate individuals and teams. Finalizes the remaining quality risks with well-developed mitigation plans. Assists with ensuring all pre-con meetings required by the QIP are conducted. Ensures that all first work-in-place inspections are scheduled and conducted. Also monitors the progress of all required corrective measures. Assists with ensuring all site observations are conducted. Performs all assigned QA inspections, prepares reports, documents deficiencies, and monitors the progress of deficiency corrections. 4. During the closeout phase: Assists with ensuring that Haskell completion conference and subcontractor completion conferences are conducted and documented. Monitor the creation & completion of AE punch lists. Performs final QA punch list, documents findings, and verifies/documents completion of those items. Assists with a Lessons Learned meeting. Prepares Lessons Learned document and distributes to project team and Director of Quality. Produces and distributes reports that are concise, thorough, logically structured, and well-written for each QIP activity for which they are responsible. Communicate to the Quality Manager or Director of Quality potential inconsistencies, deficiencies, errors, omissions, and conditions that may expose the company to liability expenses. Prepares monthly summary of all assigned QIPs, notes trends, and participates in Monthly delivery group QIP meetings. Participates in QIP audits with the Quality Manager and/or Director of Quality as requested. Attends a minimum of 16 hours each year of professional development (in or out of house) to improve the knowledge base. Assists in the preparation of a monthly summary of all assigned QIPs, notes trends, and participates in monthly delivery group QIP meetings Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with 8 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience-Bachelor's from an accredited university in architecture, electrical engineering, or construction. Experience in technical design and/or construction expertise and background in Quality management or other degree related to the AEC profession. 5 years of related Quality Control experience. Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications: Certifications (minimum of 2 of the following): CQM (government), ACI level I, II, ACI National and ICRI, RCI Roofing Inspector, Structural Steel Erector, Soils testing, and mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering for non-engineers. Ability to read and effectively interpret building construction documentation and associated reports. Ability to conduct effective preconstruction (preparatory) meetings to define Quality standards and inspection procedures. Ability to inspect construction progress at scheduled intervals. Ability to interface with client's Quality personnel and provide direction to ensure compliance with testing, inspection procedures, and results to on-site Quality Control inspectors. Good interpersonal/communication skills to effectively work with others. Good organizational skills to handle/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with good written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and follow-up. Ability to travel to project sites. Travel will be greater than 70% of this individual's time. Assignments may be full-time on-site for the full project duration.
