Ant International Legal Department seeks a Legal Counsel in Malaysia to support its global payments and financial services operations, including innovative tech-backed products for businesses worldwide. The ideal candidate possesses strong legal and communication skills, anticipates business needs, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing diverse projects with an exceptional team. Job scope Provide primary legal support and advice to the international business team on a wide variety of cross-border legal and regulatory matters, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing client contracts, conducting legal analysis on new product initiatives and advising on legal and regulatory developments in relation to embedded finance business. Lead legal support on cross-product coverage for payments, lending, technology, liquidity management, FX and other related products. Working closely with compliance team to ensure regulatory and compliance risks are properly managed. Working closely with legal experts from various jurisdictions and multiple disciplines, including financial regulatory, data privacy, intellectual property, tax, etc. Supporting the internal review and approval processes for new strategic initiatives. Managing external legal counsel as needed in an effective and efficient manner. Escalating issues, as appropriate, and partnering collaboratively with other team members to support the business. Requirements Bachelor or above degree in law from England, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, US, Malaysia or similar common law jurisdiction. Minimum of 5 years PQE (post qualification experience). Experience in banking, payments or similar field would be viewed favourably. Preferred: proficient in Mandarin (both spoken and written). Regulatory/compliance knowledge and skills in relation to payments and/or financial sector. Excellent technical, drafting, negotiation and analytical skills coupled with practical commercial acumen. Must be a team-player, highly motivated self-starter and eager learner with excellent project management skills. Demonstrable advocacy and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to influence different business functions. Excellent stakeholder management skills.
