- Monitor the cataloguing and classification of library materials according to Taylor's University and Taylor's College cataloguing policy and procedures.
- Monitor the process of identification, searching and selection of bibliographic records from local and foreign institutions to be downloaded to the Library's Database for editing.
- Monitor the maintenance of the bibliographic records and ensure there is no duplication of bibliographic records in the catalogue.
- Monitor the maintenance process of importing records or creating original records ensuring consistency of headings and creating authorities as necessary.
- Monitor the maintenance of the record updating to reflect change in bibliographic information in compliance with Taylor's University and Taylor's College cataloguing policy and procedure.
- Monitor the creation of original catalogue records for electronic titles when there is no existing record.
- Monitor and undertake complex copy cataloguing of electronic resources.
- Participate in discussions on standards in electronic resources and its application.
- Develop metadata records for diverse digital resources, including academic papers, research datasets, multimedia files, and other scholarly materials. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established metadata standards
- Apply appropriate subject classifications, keywords, and descriptors to enhance discoverability and facilitate efficient searching and browsing of the repository's content.
- Conduct regular quality checks to verify the completeness, correctness, and currency of metadata records. Identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors to maintain data integrity.
- Monitor the development and application of systematic quality analysis to the catalogue and organize corrections to be made to spelling and MARC 21 tag errors
- Monitor and actively check whether database problems are one-off or widespread needing fuller attention
- Monitor and actively check whether catalogue links are accurate and active.
- Look for innovative ways to improve the quality of the catalogue
- Advise on KOHA locations (setting up and modifying) to be consistent with the current logical scheme
- Assist with upgrades to KOHA and implications including the need to update tag
- Solve complex problems relating to bibliographic, location and holdings information for monographs
- Liaise with library staff to discuss solutions to catalogue problems
- Contribute to the projects required to improve the accuracy of the catalogue
- Resolve problems arising from projects
- Monitor progress of projects and ensure successful completion
- Liaise with relevant library staff to assess needs and correct implementation of procedures
- Identify specifications for appropriate reports to be generated for project work
- Provide reports of categories of materials required for projects
- Assist users with reference and general queries
- Assist students and staff in the use of print and electronic resources.
- Refer students and staff to Reference Librarian for specialist information services when appropriate.
- Participate in Virtual Reference service and customer relationship management
- Participate in library and division meetings as required
- Contribute, evaluate and make recommendations to improve work processes and the development and adherence to relevant Taylor's University and Taylor's College policies and procedures
- Report on and achieve unit priorities
- Report on and meet quality standards specified in the unit KPIs
- Supervise Library Assistant and ensure pasting call number activities is completed on a timely manner.
- Contribute suggestions for improvements to work progress
- Contribute ideas to the future directions and strategies of the Library through participation in discussion and workshops
- Prepare monthly, quarterly report, six-monthly and yearly report for the Division
- Undertake shift work (night duty, Saturday, Sunday, public holiday) as and when required.

- Sound knowledge of international cataloguing and classification standards (e.g. AAC2R, DDC, LC Subject Headings, MARC21) and online vendors.
- Knowledge of cataloguing rules, guidelines and developments.
- Knowledge of Integrated Library Management System especially with acquisition and cataloguing module.
- Good communication skills including oral and written
- Ability to manage a team of staff, to motivate staff and provide feedback and development opportunities
- Ability to learn and effectively apply policies and procedures.
- High level interpersonal skills, including an ability to interact with a diversity of individuals from both within and outside Taylor's University.
