It focuses on the application and maintenance of measurement equipment and standards, ensuring that all measurements taken in a given environment are consistent, traceable, and compliant with industry standards. The role also includes product-specific measurement planning and test method development to ensure that the measurement system is tailored to the product’s specific needs, helping to guarantee that the final product meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.What will you be doing?This role is responsible for developing customized measurement programs tailored to new and existing products. This includes identifying appropriate metrology equipment, methods, tools, and techniques to ensure that measurement programs align with product design specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements. The role also involves designing and optimizing testing methods for key product characteristics such as dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and functional performance.In addition, the position requires validating measurement equipment and techniques to ensure they are fit for purpose and capable of delivering reliable results before products are released for production. The role also supports issue resolution by investigating measurement discrepancies, diagnosing equipment failures, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining compliance with internal and external audit requirements.Beyond technical responsibilities, the role plays a key part in educating production teams, engineers, and quality personnel on proper measurement practices and the importance of metrology. Acting as a subject matter expert, the role also explores emerging technologies to enhance measurement accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, ultimately contributing to continuous improvement and product quality assurance.What will you need to be successful?This role, based in Batu Kawan, Penang, requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metrology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. An ISO 13485 internal auditor certification would be an added advantage. Candidates should ideally have 5–10 years of experience in Metrology or Quality Engineering within a regulated industry, with preference for those from the medical device sector and familiar with ISO 13485, FDA QSR 21 CFR Part 820, and MDSAP requirements.The position demands strong technical expertise, including interpreting engineering drawings, applying GD&T, and using metrology and inspection tools such as CMM, optical systems, calipers, and micrometers. Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and process control techniques (e.g., MSA, SPC) is essential. Experience in measurement system validation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance in manufacturing environments will be highly valued.Success in this role also requires excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities under pressure, prepare thorough documentation, and support audits.
