Job PurposeThe Manager of Industrial Relations and HR Operations plays a pivotal role in cultivating a positive and compliant workplace environment. This involves managing industrial relations, HR operations, and adherence to Malaysian labour laws and internal policies. This role is responsible for overseeing disciplinary and union management, performance improvement programs, and risk management, while providing invaluable support and expert guidance to leadership on relations issues.Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement employee relations strategies and initiatives that align with the company’s objectives and foster a positive work environment.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on employee relations matters, including resolving conflicts, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Oversee the HR operations function, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of employee transactions, including onboarding, offboarding, and HR data management.
  • Monitor trends in employee relations and assess the effectiveness of initiatives, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
  • Design and carry out training programs for management and employees to enhance understanding of workplace policies, conflict resolution techniques, and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, and to support organizational change efforts.
  • Manage employee engagement initiatives, including surveys and feedback mechanisms, to gauge employee satisfaction and drive improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations while maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records.
RequirementsQualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in HR, with at least 4 years in employee relations and HR operations.
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian labor laws and regulations, as well as HR best practices.
  • Proven experience in conflict resolution, conducting investigations, and managing employee grievances.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Proficient in HR information systems and data management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive employee issues.
