JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking a strategic leader who possesses broad technical expertise and a proven track record in leadership, network infrastructure design, and strategic network planning. Reporting to the Head of Network Engineering and Operations, the role is responsible for defining, executing, and optimising the organisation's comprehensive network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, data centres, and cloud environments. The head will develop and own the technology roadmap, ensuring high performance, scalability, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves overseeing network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies, capacity planning, monitoring strategies, and disaster recovery. Additionally, the head is expected to stay current with the latest networking technologies-such as SD-WAN, SASE, automation with Ansible/Python, and cloud connectivity-and collaborate with vendors/principals to deliver resilient, future-ready solutions. In addition to technical leadership, the Head of Network Engineering manages and mentors a team of engineers, fostering best practices, professional growth, and operational excellence. They govern budgets (CAPEX/OPEX), vendor relationships, and procurement processes, while aligning network initiatives with broader business goals. They establish and enforce policies, SLAs, and compliance frameworks, drive automation and orchestration for day-to-day network operations, and coordinate cross-functional efforts to support global initiatives. Success in this position is reflected by reliable network uptime, efficient incident resolution, optimised costs, and a robust, scalable network architecture aligned with organisational strategy. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Strategic Planning & Architecture Define and implement the overall network strategy and technology roadmap-spanning LAN, WAN, data centres, cloud, and telecom systems-to support growth, scalability, reliability, and security. Provide directions and technical expertise for internal and external projects/collaborations. 2. Network Design, Standards & Optimisation Share directions of overall network architecture design, feasibility studies, cost analysis, performance tuning, capacity planning, and modernisation initiatives (SD-WAN, automation, zero-trust) Guide future technological roadmap (short- and long-term roadmap) Embed industry-leading best practices and optimise workflows through continuous process enhancements. Drive comprehensive compliance gap assessments and implement remediation plans to achieve full compliance alignment. 3. Operations and Reliability Management Oversee overall 24/7 network performance, disaster recovery planning, root-cause reviews, SLAs, and preventive maintenance to ensure high availability Oversee overall problem management efforts by conducting holistic analysis - identifying root causes and delivering strategic and tactical resolutions to enhance service reliability. 4. Team Leadership & Development Manage, mentor, and grow the network engineering/operations team-including engineers, analyst, establishing performance goals, certifications, and career progression. 5. Vendor, Budget & Compliance Governance Oversee CAPEX/OPEX budgets - consolidations/ cost savings opportunities/ consolidations, vendor assessments and relationships, procurement (RFI, RFT, RFT), regulatory compliance (contracts), and lifecycle management of network assets Drive strategic Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives-shaping the technical vision, defining success criteria, and securing alignment with business objectives. You empower your engineering teams to design scalable test environments, oversee evaluation processes, and ensure clear, data-driven outcomes that inform enterprise adoption and reduce deployment risks. 6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Partner across IT, security, cloud, and business units to align network capabilities with organisational goals, integrate new services, and advise on technical requirements. 7. Innovation & Technology Adoption Drive the adoption of emerging technologies, enhancements to monitoring tools, automation (e.g., Ansible/Python), and continuous process improvements to future-proof the network. JOB REQUIREMENTS Malaysian citizen. Obtain a pass in Bahasa Melayu, including an oral test in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government. Possess a bachelor's degree in computer science/ information technology or equivalent which is recognized by the Government from any local or abroad higher learning institution with a minimum CGPA of 3.00. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in network engineering/architecture across LAN/WAN/DC/cloud environments, with at least 2-5 years in management or senior leadership roles. Proven track record overseeing large-scale, high-availability networks, including global or multi-site operations Broad expertise in routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN), datacenter architectures (spine-leaf), and SD-WAN or similar advanced technologies. Strong understanding of network security concepts-firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, zero-trust architecture and compliance frameworks. Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid-connectivity solutions. Proficiency in network automation/orchestration tools-Python, Ansible, Terraform-plus modern monitoring platforms is an added advantage. Experience leading, mentoring , and scaling network engineering teams, setting clear goals, and fostering professional growth. Proven ability to develop and own network strategy and roadmap, directing architecture, capacity planning, and resilience initiatives. Strong budget and vendor management experience-overseeing procurement cycles, asset lifecycles, CAPEX/OPEX. Excellent stakeholder management-partnering across IT/security/cloud/business units to align network goals with organisational strategy. Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to both technical teams and non-technical leadership Strong problem-solving mindset with experience in incident management, root-cause analysis, SLA enforcement, and disaster recovery planning. Proficiency in performance monitoring, capacity forecasting, and optimisation to ensure a resilient and efficient network infrastructure. Strong problem solving and analytical skills and ability to work together in a team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu. Willingness to work extended hours, including after-hours support when required Willing to travel and work in Kwasa Damansara Office (HQ) Professional Certs (Public Clouds, TOGAF etc) are an added advantage.
