Job Description:Wood is currently recruiting for a Graduate Accountant for our Kuala Lumpur based Graduate Program. This position will report directly to the Finance Manager.Responsibilities:What will I do?
  • Preparing and uploading end of month accounting entries and adjustments, as part of end of month reporting process.
  • Monthly reconciliations of all balance sheets and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Proactively seeking to clarify and resolve any identified account discrepancies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial reports for presentation to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Participating in the annual internal and external auditing processes and maintained providing documented evidence and calculations are available for all audit requirements.
  • Undertaking the month end close for contract and the submission of various group reporting requirement e.g. Flash / Bridge / Unbilled and AR (Accounts Receivables) analysis
  • Ensure that the DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) target for the contract is achieved, with any issues raised timely for resolution with the respective parties.

  • Completed your Commerce/Accounting or similar degree within the last two years i.e. no earlier than 2023
  • Knowledge of accounting principles: Understanding fundamental accounting concepts, such as debits and credits, financial statements, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and basic bookkeeping is essential.
  • Proficiency in accounting software: Familiarity with popular accounting software systems like QuickBooks, Excel, SAP, or Oracle is highly beneficial. These tools are commonly used for financial data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Analytical skills: Graduate accountants should possess strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data, identify trends, and reconcile discrepancies. Attention to detail is crucial for accurate financial reporting.
  • Communication skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills are important for graduate accountants. They need to communicate financial information clearly and collaborate with colleagues or clients.
  • Organisation and time management: Accountants often handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as managing accounts payable/receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing tax documents. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
  • Ethical standards: Accountants deal with sensitive financial information and must adhere to ethical standards. We value integrity and honesty to maintain client trust and uphold professional standards.
  • Numerical proficiency: Strong mathematical skills are vital for graduate accountants, including the ability to calculate figures accurately, analyse numerical data, and perform basic financial calculations.
