- Languages: Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin/Cantonese a plus on site and with vendors.
- Experience: 8+ years managing multi-project field ops in specialist contracting, civil works, M&E or similar environments.
- Technical & Cost Acumen: Strong in job costing, unit-rate analysis, asset ROI, and logistics planning. Can develop custom jigs/tools and coordinate site logistics.
- Systems Mindset: Built and enforced scalable tools, dashboards, and SOPs that teams follow.
- Leadership: Confident leading supervisors and crews; makes clear, respected people decisions. BASIC DETAILS
- Negotiation: Secures value-for-money deals with suppliers, subs, vendors, and clients.
- Safety & Compliance: Well-versed in CIDB, DOSH, ISO; zero-tolerance for unsafe practices.
- Run a live manpower and equipment schedule across all divisions, ensuring resource sufficiency and optimal allocation.
- Plan and manage overtime requirements to meet job schedules without burning out teams or inflating cost.
- Ensure crews consistently meet productivity targets and solve operational issues on-site to keep jobs on time and within budget.
- Design and implement job-specific jigs, custom tools, or setups to increase output and safety where standard methods fall short.
- Identify opportunities to optimise operational costs and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Develop accurate unit-cost benchmarks to support tendering and estimating.
- Provide Finance with rolling cashflow and WIP forecasts; proactively manage variation orders and claims.
- Manage equipment utilisation, maintenance, and ROI to guide repair or redeployment decisions.
- Optimise vendor, subcontractor, and consumables sourcing through performance-based selection and usage tracking.
- Oversee store management and material planning, ensuring 5S compliance and timely, cost-efficient resource flow to sites.
- Establish and maintain HIRARC documentation for every live project; prepare contingency plans for breakdowns, weather disruptions, labour shortages and other risks.
- Ensure compliance with CIDB, ISO 9001/45001/17020 and relevant safety or regulatory standards; lead site-level HSE audits and reviews.
- Centralise all schedules, cost sheets, VO logs, site photos and other project documents into a structured digital system.
- Ensure full traceability and quick retrieval of operational data to support decision-making, audits, and project reviews.
- Manage all Division Leads, site supervisors and dotted-line Project Engineers; build a pipeline of new leaders through structured mentoring and skill assessments.
- Take ownership of hiring, training, crew reassignment or dismissal decisions based on performance and business needs.
- Cross-train team members between divisions to increase flexibility, balance peak workloads, and create group-wide operational synergy.
- Act as the technical face of the company on-site - instilling client confidence, solving issues directly, and representing Sonicon Group professionally.
- Ensure 95%+ of jobs meet contractual timelines and that no job is abandoned without recovery action.
- Lead structured debriefs with clients after major projects; extract lessons learned and feed improvements into future tender plans and SOPs.
- Execute new services to a professional standard aligned with company goals.
- Conduct methods research, trial setups, and training plans to enable high quality delivery of new scopes.
- Recommend and evaluate new technologies or workflows that improve competitiveness, output, or client value.
