Job Description Summary: The Reliability Engineer leverages engineering expertise and specialized methodologies to proactively identify and prevent/minimize the occurrence of failures. The role involves employing techniques to assess the anticipated reliability of new designs by analyzing reliability data. They proficiently identify and rectify root causes behind any encountered failures for both new and sustained designs. Additionally, they strategize approaches to estimate and mitigate the impact of field failures. Detailed Description: Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability and quality engineering programs to achieve product level reliability objectives. Develops failure mode and effect analyses and formulates mathematical models to identify potential field risks Specifies DUT requiring reliability testing and determine sample size to obtain statistically meaningful data. Develops, reviews, and approves reliability test plans and reports at component, sub-assembly, and system levels released both internally or externally to end customers. Monitors field failure data generated to ascertain potential requirements for product improvement. Review and evaluate thoroughness and integrity of Root Cause analysis reports (e.g., CAPA, 8D report) and Failure Mode, and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Analyzes projected product utilization and calculates cumulative effect on final system reliability of individual part reliabilities. Observes conduct of tests at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors such as numbers and causes of unit failures. Documents technical reports to support contract requirements, failure analysis or reliability Engineering requirements. Develops and presents technical assessments associated with Reliability Engineering requirements. Reviews engineering specifications and drawings, proposing design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements. Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect operations by applying data analysis techniques that can include: Statistical Process Control Reliability modeling and prediction Fault Tree Analysis Weibull Tree Analysis Six Sigma (6 ) Methodology Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA) Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) etc. Supports generation of performance metrics for products and processes of moderate complexity, and drives the team to achieve Quality Goals set by management Leads Quality and Reliability Improvement Programs in support of customer and internal requirements Job Requirements 510 years of experience in complex electro-mechanical system design, risk assessment, system-level testing and evaluation, and quality management related functions. Bachelor's degree. Bachelor's degree in related engineering field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expertise of reliability and quality data extraction and analysis, NUDD, DFMEA/PFMEA, product risk assessment, basic statistics, and probability. In depth of quality metrics, ISO standards and processes. Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma Manufacturing processes and controls Strong Project Management Skills Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
