We are currently looking for a Vessel Cost Controller to join our team. Main Responsibilities: Cost Control and Optimization Conduct financial analysis on operating expenses (OPEX), dry dock, capital expenditure (CAPEX) and other non-OPEX additional cost of vessels. Evaluate fleetwide spend in specific cost categories and propose service improvement measures. Enhance understanding of vessel financial performance among internal and external stakeholders, proposing improvements for cost control. Participate in OPEX review meetings with internal team and vessel owner. Financial Planning and Analysis Review financial reports to ensure expenditure falls within budget or fund allocation. Identify cost overrun areas, offering recommendations to the Fleet Manager based on budget and forecast reports. Conduct a high-level review of monthly budget follow-up comments provided by Vessel Managers, proposing potential improvements. Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to prepare and present budget and forecasting analysis results to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, from senior management to ship owners. Assist Fleet Management with the compilation of budget assumptions and review accuracy of budget input per budget assumptions. Financial Reporting and Compliance Collaborate closely with the accounting and procurement team to ensure accurate capturing of OPEX and CAPEX costs, including the preparation of relevant entries. Liaising regularly with Vessel Managers to ensure correct maintenance of expense sheets with appropriate commentary and account coding. Process Optimization and Risk Management Contribute to the optimization of administrative and financial processes and procedures related to vessel OPEX (Procurement to Pay/ Financial reporting process) Oversee mitigation of risks identified from shipping and financial risk assessment. Work closely with internal auditor to ensure compliance of procedures and external auditor for statutory non-financial audit. Performance Indicators and Continuous Improvement Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for budgeting and cost efficiency. Be a process and risk champion to review business and financial operating processes, recommend alternative practices and processes. Drive positive change in process and procedure for better operational efficiency and quality. Ad-Hoc Support Provide ad hoc financial analysis to assist fleet/vessel manager with business decisions such as identification of cost savings and impact of exchange rates, etc. Support in ad-hoc tasks as required. Qualifications Mandatory Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or equivalents Min 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience, e.g. OPEX controlling, Vessel accounting & financial analysis. Adaptable to flexible working hours, prepared to work late if necessary, as this role is dedicated to supporting the team in the USA market. Strong analytical and financial reporting skills. A team player with the capability to work independently when necessary. Proficient in written and spoken English. Follow us on social media! #WSM
