BAT KL IS LOOKING FOR A CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SENIOR MANAGER SENIORITY LEVEL: Management FUNCTION: GBS Legal and External Affairs SALARY RANGE: Market salary + Excellent benefits + Market leading bonus LOCATION: Sunway Geo, Kuala Lumpur ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES The Continuous Improvement Senior Manager is responsible for driving process, system and workflow improvements and operational excellence initiatives within the legal department to enhance efficiency and productivity and delivering (and ensuring the Legal team delivers high quality contracts support to the end markets ('EMs') through the application of excellent process delivery. Reports to: DBS Senior Legal Counsel Reporting Level: N/A WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR The Continuous Improvement Senior Manager is a member of the DBS Legal team in Malaysia, reporting to a Senior Counsel. He/she will be working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and will be expected to engage confidently and effectively with EM Legal teams and other stakeholders. Analyze processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reduction opportunities, and work with the Legal team. Identify and implement technology solutions, automation tools, and software platforms to streamline legal processes and enhance efficiency. Identifying opportunities to develop and apply standardized processes and documentation to support simplification, improve productivity and reduce complexity. Design and implement process improvements, including standardizing workflows, streamlining procedures, and automating repetitive tasks. Develop and execute strategic plans for implementing best practices and driving operational excellence within the legal department. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of process improvements, collecting and analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for further optimization. Track progress against goals and provide regular reports and updates to management. Create and maintain process documentation, guidelines, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with legal requirements. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the contracts department, encouraging collaboration, innovation, and feedback from team members. Implement training and support to legal/contracts team members on new processes, tools, and technologies to optimize their performance and productivity. Stay updated on emerging technologies and continuous improvement space. Proactively engaging and working cross-functionally and effectively with stakeholders globally to fully understand and support their business needs. Working closely within the wider legal teams to support a 'One Team' concept. Demonstrating continuous improvement and development of self and ensuring behavior aligns with BAT's Ethos. Collaborate with contracts team members, executives, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand pain points, gather requirements, and design process improvement solutions. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Bachelor's degree business administration, or a related field. Post qualifying experience of 10 years. 5+ years of experience in process improvement, or a related role. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify process gaps and propose effective solutions. Demonstrated expertise in driving process improvement initiatives and managing complex projects. Proven experience in implementing technology solutions and automation tools to enhance efficiency. Proficiency in using productivity tools, project management software, and data analysis tools. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams. Knowledge of legal operations, contract management, compliance, and risk management principles. Solid understanding of project management methodologies, Lean Six Sigma, or similar process improvement frameworks. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment and prioritize multiple projects effectively. Experience in the legal industry or in-house legal departments is advantageous.
