- To achieve underwriting targets, financial plans and manage the overall underwriting, administration and operation of the class of insurance
- Underwrite and review risks for acceptance which includes risk assessment, determine rate and terms, site visit & prepare quotation slip, renewal review, claim review, treaty guidelines and where necessary drive negotiation and closure of deal together with distribution.
- Involvement in budget exercise, and subsequent budget update in regional system including monitoring policies/ endorsements premium booking.
- Ensure monthly production budget achieved
- Completing regular forecasting activities, ensuring accuracy of forward planning
- Review, adapt and execute line of business strategies and portfolio performance, making recommendations and executing change as necessary to ensure success against our financial plan
- Execution of underwriting standards and guidelines, including following:
- Execute on portfolio review action items, UW audit process and related operation
- Peer Review are perform in timely manner
- Underwriting process - ensure controls are in place and best practice standards
- Conduct necessary training & presentations to staff and producers
- Represent line of business in various meetings, both internally and externally
- Adherence to reporting i.e. reports to relevant authority (PIAM/ Scheme Manager) & departmental reporting
- Handle enquiries and provide technical support in accordance with service standard for underwriting
- Liaise with reinsurers in respect of quotation and reinsurance support including treaty special acceptance
- Ensure efficient supervision of staff
- Accountable and responsible for delivering the value proposition and service delivery goals of the assigned segmentation.
- Drive the whole of account underwriting culture by demonstrating strong collaboration and instilling segmentation's best practices into our operations and processes, promoting the culture of continuous improvement and expanding the capabilities and innovation
- Collaborate across multiple lines of business and other functional stakeholders in joint strategic and tactical projects
- Contribute ideas towards multi-line P&C products to meet the opportunities present in segmentation, meeting multi-line needs of distribution and clients
- Identify, develop and execute cross-selling opportunities within own lines of business as well as across others
- Other segmentation tasks as assigned
- Sound Underwriting skills
- IT literate
- Possess good presentation skills
- Possess good negotiation skills
- Mature personality
- Able to work independently
- Minimum 5 years' experience in general insurance operation;
- Tertiary qualification in any discipline, preferably diploma/ Associate in Insurance qualifications (ACII /AMII)
