Job Summary The Packaging Project Engineer responsible for SEA packaging development work. In supporting the Packaging Engineering Manager, he/she will work closely with the Marketing, Sales, Procurement, Product Development, Planning, and Manufacturing teams to define and drive packaging development with the most cost-effective solutions, from concept generation to implementation, in accordance with the respective project objectives. The packaging scope includes creating and defining technical specifications for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for articles produced, including polybags (printed and unprinted), carton boxes, and palletizing guidelines for all selling and promotional SKUs in SEA. Project scope includes execution of the technical project that related to packaging material, process and etc. The key job function is to apply an understanding of packaging machines, products, markets, consumers, and competitors to develop key long-term and short-term packaging strategies. This role continually assesses how our packaging fits with the changing needs of the market by adjusting design and production processes to meet evolving needs and achieve cost savings. You will play an essential role to: 1) Develop Packaging Innovation and implement packaging Development activities with Suppliers, Procurement, Quality, Product Development, Planning, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the development of new packaging design with the following consideration: Brand requirement Consumer requirement Manufacturing requirement Warehousing requirement Logistic requirement 2) Assist in preparing packaging costing: Liaise with Sourcing department on which supplier to work with; confirm the price etc. Keep record and monitor if it is still within budget once approved. 3) Manage packaging specification by ensuring that: All packaging specifications are revised and updated when needed Manufacturing limitation is considered in the packaging designs process Packaging dimensions are designed to meet key objectives such as stack ability and stability, as well as cost optimization. 4) Assist in system information update: Cost of materials; packaging specs including stretch film, OPP tape etc. Product m 5) Support Supply Chain in qualifying new packaging suppliers: Validate suppliers' production capability and quality consistency Initiate and drive trial of new specifications 6) Patent & Product Safety Approval & Technical Support: Ensure that packaging materials fulfill the Vinda Product Safety requirements Liaise with IP to ensuring compliance to relevant regulatory requirements 7) Ensure all packaging specification and materials meet Vinda standards: Responsible for continuous improvement in the areas of material, specs based on internal and external feedback Lead packaging cost optimization activities Ensure packaging performances are not compromised in the process of cost optimization and reduction activities Ensure proper communication to key stakeholders. Responsible for driving packaging innovation by regularly reviewing existing solutions to identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and ensuring that technical designs remain competitive and aligned with evolving consumer needs. 8) Managing the technical project related to packaging machine and packaging technology Perform feasibility study and define project scope Project management (control, monitor and execute assigned project) Assure the project work meets pre-established expectations in terms of safety, priority, timeline, cash flow, total cost, and final product 9) Ad Hoc tasks that are assigned from time to time by Packaging Engineering Manager. To be successful in this application, you will need to have: 1) A degree in Engineering or a related technical field; diploma holders with strong relevant experience will also be considered. 2) Minimum 2-3 years of experience in packaging, technical, product development, or related functions. 3) FMCG experience is an advantage but not mandatory. 4) Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word). 5) Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver within deadlines. 6) Capable of managing multiple tasks while balancing time and resources efficiently. 7) Strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively across functions.
