- Read and understand the project contract including scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements.
- Achieve basic knowledge of MDR's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions
- Become familiar with P&IDs, Line List, Equipment Layouts, Piping Specifications and Design Basis.
- Analyze assigned scope of work in a McDermott project including specific complex deliverables such as piping specifications, piping materials, valves, and piping Specialty items
- Compile and perform conceptual studies, cost studies, design calculations, specification development and supervising supplier packages for adherence to specifications put forth.
- Prepare Piping Items List and required datasheets.
- Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Queries, Technical Bid Evaluations and Purchase Requisitions of Engineered Piping Equipment including Valves, SP Items, Piping Bulks, Spring supports, Access fittings, etc.
- Keep the Piping Project Leadership apprised of all activities, progress and concerns.
- Be aware of costs relation to own work.
- Recognize changes to scope and notify the Discipline Lead Engineer.
- Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager
- Assist procurement personnel in procuring discipline equipment, materials and services. Procurement assistance includes preparing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead Engineer
- Check engineering performed by others within Discipline
- Lead Piping engineering team for project including planning work load, staffing, guidance, communicating and progressing deliverables in accordance with project plan
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering field from accredited University
- Written and Verbal Communication skills with a minimum of 10+ years' experience in Oil and Gas engineering, with EPC experience
- Familiar with codes and standards of ASME, API, and ANSI.
- Is current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process.
- Is capable of appropriate use of computer applications and other specialized engineering tools.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer and a member of professional engineering society
