Position: Art Illustrator & Admin Intern / Freelance Location: Bangsar (Near to MRT Pusat Damansara) - 2 days in Office, 3 days WFH Type: Internship (Full-time/Part-time) Duration: Minimum 2 months Maneknya is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Peranakan art. We specialize in creating beautiful, culturally inspired items that celebrate the unique fusion of Chinese, Malay, and Indonesian (Javanese) influences, based in Malaysia & Singapore region. We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Illustrator & Art Intern to join our team. The intern will focus on designing various cultural items inspired by Peranakan heritage. This would be a hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects that celebrate and preserve cultural traditions. If you love art, drawing, illustration, we want you! You also will be responsible for tasks such as lead generation, market research in both of our 2 markets. Responsibilities: Creating & develop the visual content for Peranakan-inspired products, including textiles, ceramics, digital graphics, and other cultural items. Use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), CapCut and Procreate software to create high-quality graphics. Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel. Conduct research on cultural design trends, historical references, and competitive products to inform and inspire design work. Hands-on curation of products or embroidery. Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and potential opportunities. Identify potential clients, partners, and collaborators by conducting research and manage the outreach. Requirements: - Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Illustrator / Business or any related field. - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), CapCut and Procreate. (Compulsory) - Strong understanding of design principles, colour theory, and typography. - A keen eye for detail and aesthetics, with a passion for cultural and heritage design. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently. - A portfolio showcasing design skills and creativity, particularly any work related to cultural or heritage designs, is highly preferred. Are able to drive / Own a car. Ability to generate leads and identify market opportunities.
