- Design and develop new standard subsystems and components in collaboration with internal Centers of Excellence, ensuring alignment with diverse product requirements.
- Lead and approve the development of assemblies and parts that support product architecture with optimised performance and cost.
- Collaborate with the simulation team to enhance the use of simulation tools for design verification and validation.
- Define and manage part, assembly, and structural data within the Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE) system to maintain a library of reusable solutions.
- Establish and maintain complete documentation to support the reuse of parts in future projects.
- Resolve technical issues across assigned projects by applying sound engineering analysis, managing trade-offs, and using structured problem-solving methods such as A3s.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with technical teams across global manufacturing and supplier locations.
- Recommend and support improvements to test plans, methods, and equipment for assigned projects.
- Analyse test data, particularly for critical-to-quality functions, in close collaboration with testing engineers and labs to ensure product integrity and performance.
- Support agency approval processes by providing accurate and timely design specifications, complying with relevant standards, and delivering proper samples for evaluation.
- Deliver thorough and accurate technical documentation during product development and review inputs from other technical functions to ensure consistency and quality.
- Coordinate with core technical team members-CAD, Quality, Test Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Model Shop-to provide timely and accurate project data.
- Work with Quality Engineers to execute quality plans for complete devices and critical components, ensuring specifications are upheld in production.
- Mentor junior engineers, designers, and supervise co-op students as assigned.
- Assist in preparing and verifying technical content for patents and legal documentation related to new inventions.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years in product development, preferably in similar product categories.
- Extensive experience with CAD modeling, engineering drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).
- Strong knowledge of material selection, tooling design, and fabrication techniques.
- Proven ability to handle multiple product development projects concurrently.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication with global cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with test development and analysing test data.
- Demonstrated creativity in the design and development of electro-mechanical products.
- Some experience with technical project management.
- Experience in the development of consumer products.
- Experience mentoring or supervising technical staff, with an ability to make informed decisions in ambiguous or fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with engineering simulations such as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) or FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
- Knowledge of robust product development methodologies, including Requirements Definition, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Quality Planning, and Six Sigma practices.
- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or M.Phil) in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
