- Act as Work Package Lead for Subsea Brownfield/Greenfield projects
- Provide Subsea Design & Engineering support to Pre-DG3 Project Maturation in the Select phase.
- Ensure that all deliverables and responsibilities are carried out as defined in the project Subsea Control Discipline Controls and Assurance Framework (DCAF).
- Identify the specific functional requirements of the subsea control system, both topsides and subsea.
- Review/configure specifications and ensure that they meet the regulatory requirements with regards to Asset Integrity and Process Safety
- Develop/review schedules and determine the deliverables and hold points necessary to meet the project requirements.
- Work with Controls and Automation (Topsides) & Operational Readiness personnel to define required subsea control system interfaces.
- Monitor progress throughout the project phases and ensure that the delivered system meets the requirements/specifications.
- Ensure that the systems are properly tested and documented prior to deployment through development of detailed procedures and assignment of experienced QA/QC personnel.
- Ensure that the systems are installed correctly via thorough installation and pre-commissioning procedures and that interfaces with all project team personnel are properly carried out.
- Lead Commissioning & Start-Up of Subsea Controls System on-site and provide Engineering & Operation Support to overall start-up of the Project.
- Conduct Operation Training for Subsea Operators pre/post-project Start-Up as part of Operational Readiness
- Collaborate closely with Subsea Surveillance Engineers in the Asset throughout all phases of the Project to ensure a flawless Project Delivery
- Lead Project to Asset (P2A) handover of punch-lists, documentations, drawings, OPM and Project Close-Out.
- Carry out project learnings and/or after-action reviews to document problems and prevent reoccurrences.
- Provide technical mentoring & transfer learnings to Junior Subsea Controls engineers and graduates.
- Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent with at least 10 years of significant subsea controls experience in Oil and Gas industry.
- Ability to develop subsea controls functionality requirements for new deep-water development and/or tie-back projects.
- Demonstrate capability to proactively implement plans, follow through with sustained execution, and to meet project milestones
- Experience in Operate Phase in Subsea Surveillance & Integrity is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex anomalies with regards to Subsea Control System
- Knowledge in design, operation, and maintenance of Subsea Hydraulic System (Pumps, Accumulators, Fittings)
- Experience working with Distributed Control System and knowledge in TCP/IP Networking would be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with technologies used in Subsea Controls System provided by Subsea OEM is required but not mandatory.
- Ability to be mentored by more experienced subsea controls staff.
- Excellent communication skills and able to work with and influence multi-cultural multi-disciplinary team in a cross-functional management organization.
- A track record of delivery with multidisciplinary teams and sub-teams - involving coordination of supporting analysis from other technical professionals.
- Utilization of a well-developed technical network within Shell and with external service providers
- A track record for consistent delivery within project or operation budget and schedule constraints
- The candidate shall have a sound technical understanding of offshore oil and gas projects.
- Skilled on offshore subsea codes (Shell DEPs and international codes).
- Working knowledge of typical subsea equipment and hardware fabrication processes.
- Working knowledge of subsea surveillance and inspection methods and procedures. This position will require a close working relationship with UPO Subsea Surveillance & Integrity to ensure new systems are well integrated with existing systems.
- Skilled on critical path scheduling and project / construction management.
- Good organization and communication skills.
- Able to document work and maintain accurate and meticulous records
- This position will require sharing best practices with other subsea controls team members.
