THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for an autonomous, strategic, and flexible Legal Counsel who will thrive in a high-pressure, high-stakes creative environment. This role will handle deal negotiations for a broad range of creative production projects across Asia-Pacific, clearance of international marketing campaigns, provide practical and business-focused guidance and support to internal business stakeholders as well as working collaboratively alongside our other regional legal teams. Ideally this position will be performed from either our Singapore, Sydney, Shanghai or Kuala Lumpar office but we are open to applications from other locations in APAC where we have an office! Note: This is a 6-month fixed-term maternity cover position with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of legal documents and contracts that bolster our creative production teams in taking on bigger and bolder projects. Your primary focus will be on our MSAs, Statements of Work, RfPs, NDAs, and third-party agreements. Work with clients and internal teams to negotiate commercial terms to align with company policies and objectives. Provide legal support and advice on compliance and clearance matters for projects and campaigns across APAC. Work collaboratively with the APAC legal team to create, update and roll out contract policies and commercial/legal strategies to support the business. Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure correct implementation of all legal guidelines and other policies. Collaborate with functional counterparts to manage data, privacy and other matters. Collaborate with legal counterparts in other regions to provide guidance and support to the global legal team. Create, maintain, and update internal contract templates to reflect changes in the company's business and the legal landscape. Stay current on relevant industry, commercial, IP, privacy, data, employment, and other laws, regulations, and developments to adapt our commercial processes accordingly. Help manage our legal administration to keep our day-to-day legal practices up-to-date. Preferred Experience And Qualifications 3-5+ years experience working as an in-house counsel or private practice in relevant practice areas. Qualified lawyer in good standing admitted to practice in a qualified jurisdiction. Ideally, you have hands-on experience with advertising, technology, content and digital media, contract and commercial law, and copyright matters. Experience in AI is a plus! You have excellent communication skills and are fluent in English (written and verbal). Other languages are a plus! You are culturally aware and adaptable to working with colleagues across APAC. You have negotiating skills and are experienced in drafting commercial contracts. You can provide practical and business-focused guidance and support to internal business stakeholders. You have excellent organisational and administrative skills. You have a good eye for detail, as well as an ability to understand the bigger picture. You're flexible and eager to take on tasks in new areas of law. You like working as part of a team but can also work independently with minimal supervision. You're proactive, strategic, and results-oriented; able to work on tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy. You're a self-starter with a strong work ethic.
