Job Title: Quantity Surveyor.Responsibilities:
Cost estimation: Quantity Surveyors estimate and manage the costs involved in construction projects, from initial feasibility studies through to final accounts.
Budget management: They develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring that costs are kept within the approved budgetary constraints.
Procurement: Quantity Surveyors procure materials and services required for construction projects, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive prices.
Contract administration: They prepare and administer construction contracts, including evaluating and negotiating contract terms and conditions.
Measurement and valuation: Quantity Surveyors measure and value the work done on-site, preparing interim and final valuations for payment purposes.
Cost control: They monitor project costs, identifying areas of overspending and implementing cost-saving measures where necessary.
Risk management: Quantity Surveyors assess and manage risks associated with construction projects, including identifying potential cost implications and developing mitigation strategies.
Dispute resolution: They assist in resolving disputes that may arise during the course of a construction project, including claims for variations and extensions of time.Requirements:Degree in Quantity Surveying: A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is typically required for entry into this profession.
At least with 3 years proven working experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
Technical knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations is essential.
Analytical skills: Quantity Surveyors must possess strong analytical skills to accurately estimate costs and assess project risks.
Communication skills: Excellent communication skills are necessary for interacting with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in construction projects.
Negotiation skills: Quantity Surveyors frequently negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, so strong negotiation skills are essential.
Attention to detail: They must have a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimation and contract administration.
