Manage and direct members of Specialist team in regards to creation of content.
Manage e-content development and renew/purchase new resources, as necessary, within the budgetary allowance.
Lead the transformational Teaching & Learning of the University by embracing technologies in the curriculum.
Keep up to date on issues relating to blended learning and inform the academic leaders of the schools its potential impact to foster quality learning.JOB SPECIFICATIONSMINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONMinimum Master Degree in the field of instructional design or educational technology and/or at least 10 years of equivalent work experience. A Doctoral qualification is preferred.RELATED EXPERIENCEFamiliarity with higher education sector and experience in team management. Exposure to project management and consulting would be an advantage. Direct, recent experience with e-learning development, curriculum design, training methodologies and online education is a key requirement.COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to work in a cross functional role. Proven track record in leading pedagogical innovations and embracing transformative Teaching & Learning (T&L) practices in higher educational institutions.
Experience in blended Learning development process and understand the basic concepts of technical, content design, technological and pedagogical, and training issues in the context of e-learning.
Proficiency using scheduling, productivity, and communication tools including GANNT charts, spreadsheets, and conferencing technologies.
Good leadership and persuasion skills.
Strong familiarity with recognized e-learning technical standards.
Experience with building and maintaining courseware and participant databases.
Proven experience with adult learning principles and course design techniques, as well as the ability to identify and fulfill adult student needs.
Demonstrated knowledge of the issues and implications of in-class and distance learning, along with mitigation strategies for dealing with them.
Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including instructional, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on coaching/motivational skills, enthusiasm, and positive attitude.
Ability to conduct research into course development and delivery concepts, as well as technical software issues.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Highly self motivated and directed.
Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
