Are you passionate about science communication and strategic collaboration We're looking for a driven and collaborative consultative sales manager to join our APAC Commercial Partnerships Team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the interface of science communication, publishing, and client engagement, creating innovative, high-value science-based solutions that amplify research impact and foster global engagement. About The Role You will be responsible for growing our science-based communication and research solutions by nurturing existing client relationships and developing new business opportunities. Working cross-functionally with global teams including editorial, marketing, and project management, you'll play a key role in delivering high-impact content, campaigns and other solutions that support our partners' goals. Key Responsibilities Drive revenue growth by securing new clients and expanding existing partnerships. Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of research and communication solution projects. Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation to bidding, contract negotiation, and closing deals. Collaborate with internal teams (Nature Custom Media, Nature Research Intelligence, Marketing, Editorial, etc.) to ensure successful project delivery and high customer satisfaction. Monitor market trends and client needs to identify new business opportunities and influence product development. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of internal systems, compliance policies, and CRM data management (Salesforce). Provide monthly progress updates to leadership with performance insights and risk assessments. Minimum Qualifications & Experience University degree. Minimum 5 years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in publishing, communication, advertising, or science-related services. Proven ability to close high-value deals and manage long-term client relationships. Excellent communication skills in both Japanese (or another Asia language) and English (written and verbal). Solid understanding of research institutions and/or academic workflows in Japan and/or Southeast Asia regions. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively across functions. Preferred Experience & Skills Prior experience in STM publishing, science communication, medical communications, or advertising sales targeting academic clients. Familiarity with custom publishing, digital advertising/content creation, or event-based solutions. Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to influence decision-makers at senior levels (e.g. Directors of Communications, University VPs, etc.). Knowledge of the science communication landscape in Japan (or Southeast Asia), including key players and emerging trends. Self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently under pressure. Experience working with CRM systems and managing sales performance data. Proficiency in other Asian languages is a plus.
