- Manages a small team responsible for hardware installation, configuration, and optimization.
- Lead regular service review and SLA performance with vendors/supplier and ensure the ongoing management of performance, quality, cost, contractual commitments.
- Set and ensure compliance of data centre policies, guidelines, and procedures to meet operations service and control.
- Responsible for the structured cabling demand and supply and advice the stakeholders on the industry standards and tardiness of the cables in the Data Hall.
- Cost control on monthly data centre and utility charges and ad-hoc services based on allocated budget.
- Review and implement improvement in the utilization of data centre facilities.
- Manage the demand for data centre rack/space request and utilization.
- Review maintenance of electrical power, air conditioning, humidity control, fire detection and suppression, and other environmental system which are necessary for the smooth and continuous operations of the data centre.
- Ensure data centre compliance of local and regional regulatory requirements, e.g. BNM (GPIS 1), MAS (TM Guidelines & TVRA), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Electricity Regulations)
- Ensure data centre facilities are based on industry standards and certified by relevant authorities/bodies e.g. TIA-942, Uptime Institute (data centre tier) and ASHRAE (cooling).
- Evaluating the impact of planned organisational change, include identifying the risks and developing risk mitigation strategies.
- Leading change management work streams with a structured methodology / process.
- Supporting development of communications relevant to change initiatives.
- Ensure policy and procedures are in place to ensure a controlled and secure change implementation and migration.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Head of Data Centre.
- Qualifies to Degree Level (or equivalent) in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ direct industry experience or a minimum of 5 years’ experience at Electrical or Mechanical in a critical environment combined with supervisory/management experience.
- Detailed understanding and experience of the electrical and mechanical system used in a data center environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS Systems, Battery Bank, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, air handling units, fire suppression system, and fire alarm system.
- Prior supervisory management experience including team management, work scheduling, and performance review.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with people at various levels.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Able to work in a high pressure environment and willing to take up challenges.
