This position is responsible for the processing of Third Party Bodily Injury Claims. He/She is to ensure that claims received are acknowledged or attended in a timely manner including examination of claims, making recommendations for decision and/or approval for offers and the preparation of payment as well as any ad-hoc assignments given to him/her by superiors from time to time.
He/She is to ensure that the claims activities are handled in a timely manner, professionally and in compliance with operating guidelines both internal (i.e. Claims SOP) and that stipulated by BNM and PIAM regarding claims procedures / processes and turn-around time.Duties and responsibilities
- To ensure all claims notification and/or submission (receipt of Notice Section 96) received are acknowledged or attended to in a timely manner. Claims created and registered with appropriate reserves provided.
- To ensure that the assessment and the examination of claims are conducted efficiently and effectively while making sure that appropriate decisions on each case are made.
- Monitoring and ensuring that claims cases were properly handled and worked towards the achievement of KPI set for each key result areas
- Ensuring that reserves provided adequately reflect the claim exposure while making appropriate changes in reserves as the claim progresses
- Coordinating with relevant parties to investigate those cases which were red-flagged and to source relevant information to facilitate investigation.
- Priortise prompt and fair settlement of claims via pro-active negotiation while not neglecting claims cost management
- To ensure that claims enquiries and / or complaints are attended to and resolved promptly and effectively.
- To co-ordinate for TPBI Section with external auditors, regulatory authority for audit exercise at relevant level.
- To involve in monthly QR review of cases processed by claims handlers and to debrief the handlers concerned for the findings.
- To attend to disputed claims and trials of litigated cases dealing with mediators and lawyers, presenting facts and pertinent evidence to support claims decision or mitigating losses if probability of success is low
- To monitor and manage the performance of panel adjusters and solicitors covering such matters as monthly bordereaux of cases as well as annual due diligence etc.
- Strong negotiation skill to facilitate pro-active claims settlement
- Inquisitive and investigative in detecting fraudulent claims
- Capable of assessing the nature and the severity of injuries to facilitate provision of reserves adequately and appropriately.
- Ability to formulate appropriate investigation according to profile and nature of claims
- Capable of managing portfolio of cases effectively and independently
- At least 3 years experience in handling TPBI claims
- Knowledgeable in relevant law. Eg. Civil Law etc
- Negotiation and effective claims settlement track record.
- Able to converse well in Bahasa and English
- LLB or related degree holder
- Degree in Insurance
